Where does it come from? What does it taste like? What makes it special?
Our Earl Grey tea is a blend of black teas flavoured with natural bergamot. Bergamot is a pear shaped citrus fruit that is grown in Italy and Sicily. The word bergamot comes from the Turkish for “Prince’s Pear”.
It’s a delicious, aromatic tea with a light, fragrant, citrus liquor. We think it is best serve either black or with a slice of lemon, and is the perfect blend to accompany cakes and biscuits.
Early Grey is the most famous flavoured tea. The legend behind this famous tea is as follows: an envoy in the reign of William IV in the 1830s saved a Chinese mandarin’s life; as a reward he was given the Mandarin’s secret tea recipe. Eyeing a chance for promotion the envoy promptly named the tea after the Prime Minister of the time, Early Grey. Whatever the story, fact or fiction, the truth is that this tea is one of the most popular speciality teas in Britain, if not the world!

This is the first time I've tried Earl Grey Tea. Taylors of Harrogate Earl Grey Tea has a strong, bold bergamot flavor and a nice spicey bergamot aroma. It was a little bitter so I added some sugar. I like that this tea is flavored with natural ingredients. I woundn't buy Taylors of Harrogate Earl Grey Tea because it is too strong and spicey for me.
My husband and I love teas. We are always trying new and exciting teas from around the world. I must say this is one of the best Earl Grey teas that I have tried.. It had a rich smooth strong flavor without being overpowering. This tea will be an excellent alternative to coffee in the morning. I really love that I can enjoy the tea both hot or cold. I tried it with a slice of lemon and with milk and honey. Both ways were very enjoyable. I will be purchasing this tea and highly recommend it.
This tea smelled really great. Easy to brew. The flavor was average for black tea and Earl Grey. It was VERY strong though. Some may like that. I prefer my tea a little sweet though and even after I added sugar it was still pretty strong. I imagine if you drank it with milk (I did not) in the typical "English" fashion that would probably smooth it out much more. Overall though, I enjoyed it but I don't think it's for me. I prefer somewhat lighter teas. But for those that like strong, bold flavor; this is for you!
My husband and I have different tastes in tea, he likes his strong and black, and I like mine lighter and sweet. I am not usually a fan of Earl Grey, but this one worked for both of us. He let his steep longer, and I took my tea packet out of the water when it was just too dark to see through. The smell was wonderful, crisp and slightly citrus-y. I really enjoyed it, and my husband said he liked it over his usual brand. I have never bought Taylors of Harrogate tea before, but I definately will buy this one, and exploring their other varieties as well.
